After the talks and the successful completion of over 95% of the qualifiers, the world football governing body at an event in Doha, Qatar last Friday held the draw for this year’s global tournament.
At the end of it all, the host nation, Qatar, as expected, was pitted in Group A alongside the Netherlands, Senegal, and Ecuador.

This year, FIFA has decided to forego tradition, and hence, the host nation will not play the first match of the world cup.
Instead, other group A opponents, the Netherlands and Senegal, will face off in a crunch meeting that will start at 1 pm local time (7 am GMT).
Later in the day, England and Iran will play the first match of Group B before Qatar takes to the pitch in the final game of the opening day of the world cup against Ecuador.
