The Eastern Regional Police Command of the Ghana Police Service is investigating the circumstances that led to the drowning of a seven-year-old pupil in a septic tank.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 11 at the compound of his school, High Mowing International Basic School in Okorase in the Eastern Region.

Police report from the Eastern Regional Public Affairs Officer, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, says the police and experts from the Criminal Investigation Department have been to the scene for findings.

They gathered that the seven-year-old pupil is said to have fallen into the open septic tank of about 10 feet in depth and contained water at the rear of the school.He was rushed to the Koforidua Central Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.The police said it found no visible marks of violence on the body after inspection.

No arrest has been made yet.The school management called parents of the pupil to inform them about the incident and they, in turn, reported to the police.The body of the deceased is at the Koforidua Central Hospital morgue.
