The 27th edition of the Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games is set to begin on Friday, November 4 2022, after being postponed due to the devastating effects of COVID-19.

The competition will see 14 tertiary institutions battle for honours at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Themed “Harnessing sporting talents of students for national development through healthy competition using science and technology,” about 4,500 athletes will compete in football, basketball, tennis, badminton, goal ball, and martial arts. Other disciplines include netball, hockey, beach volleyball, arm wrestling, and chess.

While various institutions prepare to compete, KNUST is double tasked to prepare for both hosting and competing.

The Director of Sports for the institution is however confident of the success of the competition in terms of organization.

“KNUST is ready for the GUSA Games and as hosts. What we’ve already put in place is impressive. KNUST is very ready for action come November 4-19,” he assured.

The last edition was held at the University of Ghana in 2020 with the University Cape coast dominating with 64 medals.
