Dr Donald Senanu Agumenu, a leadership consultant, has called for the skills and capacity development of young people in the fashion industry.

He said the enterprise was a multi-billion business enclave that could be exploited to create jobs and wealth for young people and grow the local economy.

Dr Agumenu made the call when he presented sewing machines to some fashion designers at their graduation in the Ketu North Municipality under the auspices of the United Garment Makers Association of Ghana.

He said the fashion business should not be considered as a career for school dropouts or the poor, but as a credible means of job creation and poverty alleviation.

Dr. Agumenu reiterated the need for developing cutting edge skills in adherence to new trends in the fashion world.

He called for a well thought out policy framework by all stakeholders to develop and harness human capital within Ketu North Municipal area.

Dr Agumenu urged the graduands to put to good use the skills acquired during their apprenticeship and create wealth for themselves and society.

He donated full-fledged sewing machine units to each of the 13 graduands at the ceremony.
