Brazilian Indigenous leaders demonstrate in front of EU headquarters in Brussels in protest of British journalist Dom Phillips and land rights activist Bruno Pereira’s disappearance — and alleged killings — in the Amazon.
Following the discovery of human remains in the Brazilian Amazon, one of two individuals detained in connection with the abduction of a British journalist and an Indigenous specialist admitted to burying the two.
- The UK will not copy EU demand for common charging cable.
- The EU has agreed to make the use of a standard charger for Apple iPhones and other devices mandatory.
Dom Phillips and his guide Bruno Pereira went missing on June 5 in a remote section of the Amazon where environmental crimes such as illegal mining, fishing, and forestry, as well as drug trafficking, abound. Police did not clarify whether the suspect, Amarildo da Costa de Oliveira, admitted to the murders or not, only that he had confessed.
