Nigeria’s anti-drug agency foiled the intended smuggling of 1.45 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine to Malaysia via the international airport in Lagos, Nigeria’s economic hub, according to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) on Sunday.

Two suspects were arrested in connection with the drug smuggling on Wednesday at the Lagos International Airport, with seizure of nine parcels of methamphetamine weighing 1.45 kg hidden in packs of cornflakes bound for Malaysia, said Femi Babafemi, the spokesperson for the agency.

Further investigation is launched to the drug smuggling case, Babafemi said.

The most populous African country has been troubled by cross-border drug trafficking, with frequent reports of seizure of illicit drugs and arrests of suspects at the major airports in the country.
