Wilmar Africa Limited has presented Food items worth GH¢20, 000 to the Achimota School for emerging champions at the maiden edition of the Fortune Alumni contest.

The items comprised bags of rice and gallons of frytol cooking oil.

The contest

The Fortune Alumni contest is a cooking contest opened to all alumni of senior high schools across the country.

The Fortune brand hosted a number of senior high school alumni teams which competed keenly across different rice meals preparations using Fortune Rice.

At the end of the cookout, Achimota School emerged as the overall best, making them the champions of the maiden edition of the contest.

The contestants, Jonathan Gabriel Larmie and Donatella Esinam Kudoto, won for themselves products and shopping vouchers while the school received a coveted food package valued at GH¢20,000.

Hard work & dedication

During the presentation at the school, the Marketing Manager of Wilmar Africa Ltd, Mrs Ewuraba Adusei, commended the management and teachers for their hard work and dedication which reflected on the values inculcated into their students that made them to stand out in the competition.

She stated that 20 different schools participated in the competition, making it a very tough one but Achimota managed to pull through with some uniqueness.

“This turned out to be a very great competition with a lot of discussions going on about it on social media with over two million engagements and so we are hoping to keep it running. We are therefore telling our followers to look out for new announcements,” she said.

Commendation

The Headmistress of Achimota School, Miss Marjorie Affenyi, expressed her delight to Wilmar Africa Limited for the gesture, indicating that the food items would supplement what the school already had to ensure food security.

“We appreciate this kind gesture, and it will go a long way to help us cater to the students.” We thank you for this contest and we are hoping to win next year too, “she said.
