The University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (UTAG) has said the strike was called off as a result of good faith.

Dr. Asare Asante-Annor, National Secretary of UTAG, said it was not because the government had provided them with their demands.

UTAG announced it has called off the strike action on Wednesday, March 9, 2022.

In a statement dated March 8, 2022, jointly signed by the President of UTAG, Prof. Solomon Nunoo, and the National Secretary, Dr. Asare Asante-Annor, members of UTAG were urged to “demonstrate good faith by returning to the lecture halls to teach.”

Explaining further on 3FM’s Sunrise on Thursday, hosted by Alfred Ocansey, the National Secretary of UTAG, Dr. Asare Asante-Annor, said “we are acting in good faith, hoping the government will fulfill its promises to us”.

“The government has not heeded to our demands, but we hope it will heed them.”
