Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency Kofi Amankwa-Manu, who also doubles as the Deputy Minister of Defence, has said he remains committed to his pledge of providing employable skills to the youth in his constituency.
In the lead-up to the 2020 primaries, the then aspiring MP promised to create job opportunities for the teeming youth through a livelihood empowerment programme.
The project is dubbed Kofi Amankwa-Manu Livelihood Empowerment Project (KAM-LEP).
Beneficiaries will have months of extensive vocational training on hairdressing, tailoring, baking and greenhouse technology.
Currently, over 160 youth including about 40 masters in various vocational skills are receiving training under a ‘Training of Trainers Programme’.
One hundred and ten (110) more apprentices are also giving similar training to enhance their capacities even before they go to the field.

Over 5,000 youth in the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency are projected to gain employable skills through this programme.
“I am targeting at creating job opportunities for every household in the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency and I will not rest until the mission is fulfilled,” Mr Amankwa-Manu told Akoma FM.
Dr Solomon Kwarteng Forkuo, Head of Business Development Center at Kumasi Technical University (KTU), said “this is the first time a Member of Parliament in the [Ashanti] Region is taking up such a project which has a direct impact on the lives of the youths.”
A beneficiary apprentice from Trede, Olivia Frimpong, described the project as “a major boost to addressing youth unemployment”.
Victoria, from Ahenema Kokoben and a beneficiary from the Masters class, said “our MP has shown that he is a man of vision and somebody who has the constituents at heart”.
Atwima Kwanwoma has a sizeable youthful population who are expected to have their lives changed through the KAM-LEP.
